SYSTEM/DATA MANAGER - MT. SINAI HOSPITAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE TORONTO, ONTARIO, CANADA Brief job description: The system management responsibilities (50%) are for a central MicroVAX II (VMS) computer and PCSA/DECnet network for the Institute. This involves installing and maintaining software, overseeing hardware maintenance, advising on future software and hardware acquisitions and trouble-shooting the system. The data management responsibilities (50%) are for clinical research in the Dept. of Clinical Epidemiology in the Institute. This involves coordinating and consulting on data collection forms and procedures, database design and programming, data entry procedures, data verification and validation, and procedures to get the data ready for statistical analysis by one of the department's statisticians. There are two programmers and a varying number of data entry clerks who report to the data manager. All programming and data entry is done in SIR/DBMS (a relational DBMS, including SQL), SAS, and FORTRAN, on the Institute's MicroVAX II, and the department's IBM PCs.
