To all, I am a biochemistry grad student looking for comments, suggestions, lessons, flames, anything at all regarding Reality with a Doctorate. I know the facts -- I'd like the opinions of the people who've been practicing bio- chem for years. Some sample subjects: 1. New directions - if you could go back to school, what area would you concentrate in? 2. How is the job market? What are the current and expected opportun- ities in academia and corporations? (Again, I'd like to hear how the people who've been looking for jobs feel, not just the Dept. of Labor statistics.) 3. Any general thoughts on the future of the bio-chem-physics-tech area? I _do_ have specific research interests of my own, but I am vastly curious to know how the net feels about the professions each of us has chosen to enter, both for my own guidance and out of general interest. E-mail me if you like...I will post a synopsis if I feel it's warranted.
