               LECTURESHIP IN GENETICS
                          at
              the School of Biochemistry
                   The University of
                    New South Wales

Applications are invited for appointment to a Lectureship in Genetics in the
School of Biochemistry at the University of New South Wales.  The appointee
will be expected to teach genetics and molecular biology to undergraduate
students in Science and to undertake a research program, including the super-
vision of postgraduate students.

Genetics is taught as a multidisciplinary subject, with the Chair of Genetics
currently located in the School of Biochemistry.

There is a wide range of modern equipment including an oligonucleotide synthe-
siser, pcr, high speed ultracentrifuges, scintillation counters, spectro-
photometers, HPLC, FPLC and Iris graphics workstations.  The school also has
access to shared 300MHz and 500MHz NMR spectrometers, and first class MS and
EM facilities.

There are current research strengths in Molecular Biology within the school 
and expertise in microbial and ecological genetics in other schools and
departments within the University.  Applicants with experience in any area of
Genetics are welcome although preference will be given to those with a strong
background in an aspect of Molecular Genetics.

The position is available from March 1991 and appointment will either be with
tenure or on the basis of a contract with provision for conversion to tenure.

Salary:      Lecturer: $AUS 33,163 - $AUS 43, 096 per annum
