	The School of Biological Sciences and the School of
Biochemistry seek a

		*** LECTURER IN MICROBIAL PHYSIOLOGY ***

to develop further research and teaching in the physiology and
biochemistry of prokaryotic or eukaryotic microorganisms.  The
position is funded under the UFC Biotechnology Initiative for five
years (subject to review after three years) and it is anticipated
that the position will become permanent.

	The ideal candidate will have a strong background and a good
research performance in the physiology and metabolism of
microorganisms of environmental relevance, but the overriding
criterion for appointment will be academic excellence.  The
appointee will develop his or her own research programme, but is
expected to interact with other research groups with environmental
and biotechnological interests.  The appointee will lecture on
courses in both Schools.
