                    COMPUTING AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

The Faculty has been formed as a result of the merger of Chisholm
Institute of Technology and Monash University and consists of the
the Departments of Computer Science and Business Systems at Clayton;
Computer Technology, Information Systems and Software Development at both
Caulfield and Frankston and Robotics and Digital Technology at Caulfield
(to be relocated at Clayton in 1992). Academic programmes offered are:

Bachelor, Graduate Diploma and Masters by coursework; Masters and
Doctorate by research. The Faculty enjoys close links with commerce and
industry through research and consulting projects. It also conducts many
non-award courses on a commercial basis through the Pearcey Centre which
is a source for additional remuneration for academic staff. The
standard of computer equipment and software facilities available to staff
and students for teaching and research is good - predominately networked
IBM and Apple Mac PCs, networked Unix workstations, DEC VAX 6000 series
running VMS and Pyramid computers running Unix. While a higher degree is
normally seen as an important attribute for a prospective member of
academic staff, significant weight will be given to interest and skill in
teaching, professional experience and the ability to pursue research
interests. Consideration will be given to fractional appointments.
