		POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW

BACTERIAL/CROP PLANT INTERACTIONS IN HIGH METAL SOILS

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral researcher to study the
interactions between bacteria and plant roots in high sodium and other
metal environments and the effect of rhizospere bacteria on plant metal
uptake in these environments.

The research will be carried out within the division of Biotechnology of
the Schoo of Biological and Health Sciences of the POLYTECHNIC OF CENTRAL
LONDON under the supervision of Dr S McEldowney.

The duration of research will be two years commencing ASAP. Salary at
Researcher B level from 13365 pounds (Inclusive of London Weighting
allowance) depending on qualifications and experience.

Applicants should have a strong interest in applied microbiology. They
should have experience in microscopy and biochemical and bacterial culture
techniques.  Some knowledge of plant physiology would be an advantage.
