[bionet.jobs] Training in Medical Informatics at Washington University

frisse@informatics.wustl.edu (Mark Frisse) (03/21/91)

The Washington University Institute for Biomedical Computing seeks
qualified applicants for its Training Program in Medical Informatics.
This program, primarily funded by the National Library of Medicine,
allows qualified candidates from the computational and biomedical
sciences to pursue graduate work leading to a Ph.D. or M.S. in Computer
Science while emphasizing research in a biomedical discipline relevant
to their long-term academic interests. Research areas of particular
interest include physical mapping of DNA, DNA sequence analysis,
biomedical databases, imaging (gel, nuclear medicine, and
positron-emission tomograpy), mathematical modelling, biomedical data
analysis, and artificial intelligence. The program allows
post-doctoral students from biological backgrounds to gain in-depth
training in computational areas while still pursuing active research.
The program allows pre-doctoral students desiring formal graduate
computers science training to complement this training with relevant
training and research in a biomedical domain.

Positions are available for the Fall, 1991 and Fall, 1992 semesters.
