Description: 
Applications are invited for the position of Scientific Research Officer 
for a  study  of  quantitative electroencephalogram (EEG) analysis.  The
project  is  a  multi-disciplinary  collaboration  aimed  at  developing
sophisticated  methods  of computer based analysis of EEG signals with a
view to providing practical tools for the assessment of  brain  function
in serious   psychiatric  disorders.    Duties  will  include  numerical
computer programming on unix workstations, and assisting research  staff
with data  management,  analysis  and  interpretation.    The successful
applicant will be based at the Department of Electrical Engineering  and
required to liase with the Clinical Electrophysiology Unit, Wolston Park 
Hospital.  

The  position  is  funded  by  a  seeding  grant  from the University of
Queensland Foundation and will be a one year fixed term appointment.  

There is  a  possibility  of  funding  beyond  this  period  from  other
sources.  The appointee will be expected to commence duties by late June 
at the latest.  

Qualifications: 
Candidates  should hold a higher degree in Engineering, Computer Science
or  Mathematics.  Communication  skills  with  scientists   from   other
disciplines is essential.  Experience in numerical analysis and computer 
programming  in  the X window GUI is preferred, and practical experience
in statistics, signal analysis and systems modelling is desirable.  

Salary: 
The salary will be at the  level  of  Research  Officer,  in  the  range
$28,782-$32,762 pa depending on qualifications and experience.
