readers of this list. I don't know anything more about the position than
appears below. Any typo's that appear are mine. The head of instruction at the
College and I are interested to see if posting vacancy announcements

Position Available: Biology Instructor

Starting Date: August 15, 1991

Date of Notice: April 8, 1991

Closing Date: May 24, 1991

Salary: Dependent upon training, experience and scale.

Responsibilities:

1. Teach two non-major courses: People and the Environment and Human Biology

2. Teach Human Anatomy and Physiology, Basic Microbiology, Integrated Science,
General Biology and Introduction to Physical and Biological Science.

3. Maintain Laboratory Storeroom and prepare for laboratory exercises.

4. Provide technical support for part-time science instructor.

5. Possibly direct HCOP summer program.

6. Serve on one of the four college-wide committees.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. M.A. Degree or above in Biology or M.S. Degree in Zoology

2. Demonstrated Success In College Teaching Preferably With Indian College
Students.

3. Demonstrated Excellence in Teaching in the Biological Sciences.

General Information:

Oglala Lakota College, located on the Pine Ridge Reservation in the
southwestern corner of South Dakota, has as its main purpose the provision of
trained human resources for the Oglala Sioux Tribe, presentation of the Lakota
perspective inteaching, maintenance of high academic standards as well as
accessibility to reservation students and assistance to the reservation
communities in reaching their goals. Since being chartered in 1971 the college
has been providing courses in nine district centers spread throughout the
7,000 square mile reservation. OLC's over 700 students, 90% of whom are
Lakota, are enrolled in one of nine Associate of Arts Degree, two Bachelor's
Degrees or five Associate of Applied Science Degree programs. The College's
main administration offices are housed at Piya Wiconi, seven miles southwest
of Kyle, SD which is 90 miles from Rapid City. In June 1983 OLC received
accreditation at the four year levelfrom the North Central Association of
Colleges and Schools.
