Well, since two commercial companies have violated the rules in the last few weeks about not posting commercial jobs on the publicly supported network, how am I supposed to continue holding off the people at my own company, IntelliGenetics? Despite continual requests to post IG jobs over the last several years, I have kept my own organization towing the line at the personal cost of irritating some of my own friends. It seems like trying to do things according to regulations these days is a completely thankless task. I have tried repeatedly to get a change in this regulation from NSF but no one there seems to want to touch this issue with a ten foot pole. The users want the postings. The companies want to put them up. Why can't NSF come to some kind of conclusion?? I agree that commercial companies should not be getting a free ride on the networks at public expense, but it seems like some kind of payment mechanism could be established whereby NSF might raise funds to support the network. I don't have time to continuously police these kinds of things and I would appreciate it if people would either adhere to the current rules or at least help out by convincing NSF to change its policy before they proceed.
