[bionet.molbio.genbank] What's in EMBL that is not in GENBANK

VCORCES.BISHOP@BIONET-20.BIO.NET (John Bishop) (07/21/89)

Dear bboard members
I have recently used sequences in the GENBANK release on BIONET
of the gene for drosophila white. It has in the 14kb's of sequence a few
errors. The EMBL version was sent corrections by the author about 2 years
ago and was finally updated the end of '88. As of the April release of GENBANK
no corrections have been made. IF YOU ARE WORKING ON A GENE AND IT IS NOT
IN ONE DATABASE BUT IS IN THE OTHER THAT OMMISSION IS very, very IMPORTANT!
Should be obvious but I ROUTINELY find one dabase has the sequence I want
and it is lacking in the other--the really interesting genes often are the
newest and only enter one or the other database at a time. GET BOTH!!!!
