[bionet.molbio.genbank] GENBANK SOFTWARE TOOLS

XXVB742@FRIO.CHPC.UTEXAS.EDU (MATTHEW WITTEN) (08/15/90)

The ongoing discussion on the large applications software
vs feature tables issue prompts me to introduce the GenBank
BBS readers to the Computational Molecular Biology and
Genetics group located at the University of Texas System
Center For High Performance Computing, Austin, TX USA and
headed up by Dr. Sarah Barron.

As part of this group's fundamental mission, we have been,
for the last year or so, developing/archiving/and integrating
CMBG class software into a package to be known as GenTools.
For those of you interested in participating in the GenTools
project, in any way:

(1) Consulting
(2) Alpha Testing/Beta Testing
(3) Donating Software
 .
 .
 .
(n) Whatever

Currently, our primary alpha testing location is the lab of
Dr. Walter Gilbert at Harvard. Dr. Gilbert is also serving as our
development consultant. Others interested (worldwide) should
contact us as soon as possible.

Please contact Dr. Sarah Barron. Her contact information follows:
