In response to a question from Dan Davison: GenBank release 66 went into tape production last week and the first tapes are shipping today. The next task is to get the release 66 CDROM out the door which will occur before the end of January. The CDROM will include the release 66 flat files, the release 65 floppy disk format files, and release 64.3 of GenPept. The first two items for the CD are ready, but Will Nelson, Julie Ryals, and myself are currently working on the GenPept release (producing indicies and cleaning up errors that we find in this process). In the future I will post an announcement to the newsgroup as each release begins production. Sincerely, Dave Kristofferson GenBank Manager kristoff@genbank.bio.net

The version > currently residing there dates from around the beginning of > August. > > -- > Tony Persechini > Department of Physiology > University of Rochester Medical Center The latest floppy disk release (65) shipped a couple of weeks ago but is not available for FTP yet. Our FTP area is tight on space and we are awaiting the arrival of a new IPI disk for genbank.bio.net which has been delayed. We have been told that the disk will ship at the end of January. The latest floppy disk release is significantly larger than the one there presently and putting it up would almost completely exhaust room for our daily updates. We intend to expand the entire FTP offerings, including adding SWISS-PROT, after the new disk arrives. If we can clean out space (which I doubt), I might have the floppy directory updated sooner. Sorry for the inconvenience. Sincerely, Dave Kristofferson GenBank Manager kristoff@genbank.bio.net
