[bionet.molbio.genbank] Using the GenBank e-mail server

kristoff@GENBANK.BIO.NET (Dave Kristofferson) (01/24/91)

The following is one of many examples of problems that can occur when
trying to use an e-mail server. If you are not getting mail back from
the GenBank server, please check that the From: line in your mail
header contains your valid (complete) address. BITNET addresses
should have a .bitnet or .earn after the host name, i.e.,
JOE@CUNYVM.BITNET not JOE@CUNYVM.

To see what the From: line looks like on your mail, simply address a
message to yourself, send it, and then read it. If you think that you
may have a problem with the From: line, please contact your local
systems administrator. GenBank cannot track down problems like the
following and can not fix them for you even if we knew the person who
sent the message.

				Sincerely,

				Dave Kristofferson
				GenBank Manager
