		   Bioinformatics Master's Program

George Mason University announces the establishment of two Master's
Degree opportunities in the newly emerged discipline of
BIOINFORMATICS.  The Biology Department will offer a specialization in
Bioinformatics as an option in the Master of Science Program.  The
Computer Science Program will offer a Master of Science program with
an emphasis in Bioinformatics.  Studentl will be jointly advised by
both departments with respect to choice of courses and research
activities.  Candidates may be admitted starting in the fall of 1989.
Graduates of these programs may apply for admission to the Ph.D.
program in Environmental Biology-Public Policy or the Ph.D. Program in
Information Technology.
