[comp.mail.mh] MH on system V?

wayne@fmsrl7.UUCP (//ichael R. //ayne) (10/19/87)

I have tried several times to get in touch with someone on the
internet to help out, now, I'll try here.

I have ftp'ed the source to MH 6.5 from udel.edu and tried to
install it on 2 machines (Masscomp and MPulse). Someone sent me a
sendmail replacement script so that I did not really need to bring up
real sendmail yet. I have had a LOT of problems trying to get the thing
installed. The source is so riddled with bugs, (some of which I have
managed to track down) that it could never work for anything more that
READing mail:
	User hooks do not work
Sendmail is called with nothing connected to stdin (pipe read
then times out). Makes the product fairly useless!
Draft files are created with nulls in their names (due to a
funtion called with the wrong number of arguments)
	Lots of mail gets lost
Since the bugs are present on both machines with different C compilers,
I am fairly sure that this is not a compiler problem.

Here is what -help gives:
version: MH 6.5 #46[UCI] (teemc) of Fri Sep 4 01:01:26 EDT 1987
options: [ATZ] [DUMB] [MORE='"/usr/local/bin/less"'] [SYS5] [UCI]
	 [SENDMTS]

The MPulse is object code compatible with the NCR towers (XP, 400, 600
at least) so I would even be willing to grab object code. If anyone
out there has managed to get MH installed on a system V box
(preferrably with sendmail), I would greatly like to know how to do
it. Is there a patch file available somewhere that can fix these
things? Or am I just using an obsolete version?

I have ftp access and am willing to uucp to most anywhere. I would
GREATLY appreciate help with this, I have been fighting with this problem
for about a year!
