Recently found an problem with mh 6.5 which has really set me back. Have set up my .mh_profile to have refile use links for refiling. This allowed incoming mail to be refiled into multiple folders from my inbox. Also insured that only one copy of the file would be on disk. Unfortunately it appears that this has caused a problem with outgoing messages that are under development. Normally when creating and outgoing message, I use comp to handle the setup of the header and then vi to add to the body of the message. If the message is complete it it sent using whatnow send. For long messages, though, the message is refiled(whatnow refile) and updated at a latter time. Comp uses the file draft in ~/Mail as the file used during message composition. After the message is refiled ~/Mail/draft appears to be hard linked to the copy of the message in a folder. When comp is next invoked it askes what one would like to do with draft. I use replace to clear out the file for the new message. The end result is when work begins on the saved file stored in the folder it does not contain what it should. Now in retrospect, it is obvious that more care needs to be taken with composed messages. Unfortunately this does not help my proposal to Darpa. My questions are the following: 1) whatnot/refile obviously is doing a link from draft to the folder. How does one setup mh so that refile does not link draft to files in folders. 2) Actually comp/replace seems not to perform the correct operation. Shouldn't replace a: delete draft, b: unlink draft?? 3) Has anyone suggestions on configuring mh to behave as 1 or 2 above? 4) Has anyone modified mh to behave as above? 5) in retrospect using the draft folder capabilities of mh6.5 might have resolved this problem. Could someone coment on how to make the best use of the draft folder functionality. Thoughts and comments are greatly appreaciated Martin Buckley Buckley@m2c.m2c.org Massachusetts Microelectronics Center {..}!harvard!m2c!buckley Westboro Ma.
