I just got a copy of MH and would like to know the reasons one might wish to install it on our system as opposed to the other mail handling systems we have available... We are running SUN/OS 3.2 and would like a system similar to mailtool (the sun supplied version) with the features (not the bugs!) of Mail Users Shell (MUSH)... We tend to deal with large volumes of mail both in quantity and size and are looking for a better solution... I am not on the mailing list so if someone would add me for the term of this discussion, I would appreciate... - thanks, david

The main reason to install MH is flexibility. Since each command executes from the shell rather than from a monolithic mailer, you have the full power of Unix available to process your messages. I find things like redirection, command substitution and history indispensable in dealing with mail. It is fairly trivial to bring up a walking menu interface to MH in a Sun shelltool window(*) so that you can do everything except type message responses without ever putting your hand on the keyboard. If you want to use Sun's textedit editor, that's fine too, you can use any editor you want. Ted Nolan ted@braggvax.arpa (*) Patch to Shelltool available on request
