[comp.mail.mh] scanning packf

jdpeek@RODAN.ACS.SYR.EDU (Jerry Peek) (09/06/90)

The MH 6.7 changes document says that:

scan With the `-file msgbox' switch, scan can list a
packf'd-format file directly (without using msh).

And it works great for things like checking the incoming mail.
But it also seems to check the current folder -- and only work if the
current folder has some messages in it:

	% folder
			HANDLE+ has no messages.
	% scan -file /usr/spool/mail/jdpeek
	scan: no messages in HANDLE
	% folder +inbox
			 inbox+ has 27 messages ( 1- 36); (others).
	% scan -file /usr/spool/mail/jdpeek

Is that a feature or a bug?
