[comp.mail.mh] Multi-pass Anti-aliasing

gfink@iris.ucdavis.edu (George Fink) (10/02/90)

One of the things that has bugged me about mh for a while is the fact,
that unlike standard Unix mail, mail aliases in mh are only expanded
once.

For example, if I have
Mark: lastname@machine.univ.edu

in my alias file and I also want to put Mark on one of my mailing
lists,

M-list: Mark, <etc>

does not expand `Mark`, and therefore has an illegal address error.

Especially in my usage, where I have several different
application-specific alias files, with some duplications, it is a pain
to have to transfer these all over to every new alias.

Has this been implemented in a release we don't have yet? Has anybody
written such a front end?

Here is my configuration:

version: MH 6.5 #77[UCI] (merge.zk3.dec.com) of Wed Mar 14 21:58:52 EST 1990
options: [BANG] [ATZ] [ISI] [MHRC] [WHATNOW] [BSD42] [BERK] [TTYD]
[DUMB] [MHE] [NETWORK] [BIND] [RPATHS] [SBACKUP='"#"']
         [SENDMTS] [SMTP]
