[comp.mail.mh] Slocal blues...

weisen@eniac.seas.upenn.edu (Neil Weisenfeld) (10/11/90)

I'm not quite sure how to get the configuration of my mh system so if
someone would mail me that info, I'll post the configuration next time.

I'm using mh-6.7 and trying to use slocal. The problem is that when I
am sent mail through a system mail alias (one with about 15 names before
mine) the mail bounces. The sender gets the mail back with an unknown
mailer error...1 Does anyone know what the problem is? Here is my
.forward: (yes, it's at mode 600 along with the .maildelivery)

"| /usr/local/lib/mh/slocal -user weisen "

my .maildelivery:

addr	cets	pipe	?	"/usr/local/lib/mh/rcvstore +cets"
source	weisen	pipe	?	"/usr/local/lib/mh/rcvstore +notes "
*	-	pipe	R	"/usr/local/lib/mh/rcvtty -form .mailnoticeform"

The problem occurs when mail is sent to 'cets' from anyone on the
system.

Thanks in advance for any help,
Neil

[.forward nuked]

Hmm, I've found a bug in slocal that perhaps you're experiencing, or
perhaps it's a variation on this bug.

Specifically, if slocal receives a piece of mail without any "To:"
line, it just can't take it, and returns the mail to the sender, if
you're lucky. I believe otherwise it just drops it in the bit bucket,
although I haven't any proof of this.

I haven't dug into the code - if slocal can't find a "To:" file, it should
check for an "Apparently To:" field; failing to find either should result
in filing the message in the users mailbox.

Me, I've been trying to ignore the bug, since it only crops up once a
week. Time to fix it, thou...
