[comp.mail.mh] Don't want MH to handle hostname

fwp1@CC.MsState.Edu (Frank Peters) (10/25/90)

Hello,

I am installing mh 6.7 on a Sun 4/490 running SunOS 4.1 and have a
slight problem.

MH seems to put a hostname in the from address before handing it to
sendmail for delivery. Is there some easy way to make it not do that?

In other words, I want the message handed to sendmail to have just
fwp1 in the Form field, not fwp1@tzu or whatever.

I have looed throught the administrators guide but don't see this as
an option. Am I missing something?

Thanks
FWP

Sorry to correct you, but MH is indeed putting the hostname in. There is
even a place where you are supposed to define this hostname in mtstailor.
If MH passes it to sendmail via SMTP (its preferred method) the SMTP
protocol strictly speaking requires a hostname.
