The Z80 family Serial Communications Chip or SCC or Z8530 or Intel 82530, has 2 baud rate generators and two independent channels on chip. They are easy to set up and don't need "phase 2". As far as I know there is not a phase 2 on Z80's except on maybe old S100 systems. -- -- Chuck - - - D I S C L A I M E R - - - {ihnp4,fortune}!Dual\ All opinions expressed herein are my {proper,idi}-> !intelca!cem own and not those of my employer, my {ucbvax,hao}!hplabs/ friends, or my avacado plant. :-} ARPAnet : "hplabs!intelca!cem"@Berkeley

<eat it, eat it, if it gets cold re-heat it> Does anyone know of an ACIA type device available to suit Z80 systems without too much bodging . It seems that the SY6851 or equivalent will not talk to a Z80 due to the lack of Phase 2! . Any help would be apprieciated. Also manufacturer etc. Alun Jenkins ...ukc!west44!agjenkins
