Anyone know of MH being ported to MS-DOS? even a simple subset like show, refile, etc? -Mike

> Anyone know of MH being ported to MS-DOS? > even a simple subset like show, refile, etc? Some folks working at the University of Maryland wrote a mail system for the PC modelled on MH. It was not a port, but it used the same commands. It wasn't a great interface for a PC, but they wanted any interface in a hurry. IBM sells (or used to sell) the product of their work. There are several major problems in porting MH to the PC: 1. What to use for MTA? There are few standards in the PC world, and the lack of multi-tasking makes running an SMTPserver difficult. 2. The inappropriateness of the MH interface for PC's. This is not to say that the command line is dead, or that MH is not a powerful system, but the reality is that the market for MH on a PC is perceived by many to be quite small. --Mike
