[comp.mail.mh] need MH curses interface

libove@libove.det.dec.com (Jay Vassos-Libove) (03/27/91)

Hi -

I need a curses (well, text screen anyway) based interface to MH,
preferably something pretty user friendly and idiot proof, but
even an interface that looks like regular mail would be okay (the
idea is to give a group of users access to MH without giving them
shell access or making them learn all of the assorted shell
commands required to use MH).

Please reply via e-mail to libove@libove.det.dec.com since I am
out of my office and pretty much can't read usenet news :-(

Thanks!

Hi Jay,

I have developed a user interface for MH. It is written
with curses and bourne shell scripts. I developed it on an Altos
386, running Altos System V, so there may (will) be some porting
problems. There are also a few bugs which I haven't had
time to iron out yet.

The good news is that it is a full screen, user friendly
interface that uses *only* standard MH commands to
manipulate folders and messages. It is basically
a point-and-pick, function-key driven menu system that
provides the basic MH services (comp, repl, forw, rmm,
folder, rmf, show, msgchk, etc.). It also allows for some
rudimentary help screens.

I would be happy to share this with others (provided my
employer approves) with the hopes of getting some feedback
on whether it is really useable or not. (I only use it
occasionaly myself, I don't like menus.) Suggestions for
improvement would also be welcome.

If you're interested, contact me (phone or e-mail) and we'll
make arrangements to get the source to you.

Thanks,

Sean.
