I'm having problems with slocal and .maildelivery doing what I want. My .forward file is set up this way: "|/usr/med/mh/lib/slocal -user geeb" And my .maildelivery: #field pattern action result string #----- ------- ------ ------ ------ To motif | A "/usr/med/mh/lib/rcvstore +motif" cc motif | A "/usr/med/mh/lib/rcvstore +motif" default - > ? /var/spool/mail/geeb All the mail on the motif mailing gets refiled properly but a problem arised with the rest of my mail. Say I recieve 10 personal messages, when I do an inc it's one large message. It seems the blank line between the end of one message and the begining of the next header doesn't exist any more.... Any suggestions? --geeb -- ################################################################################ Mark A. If you then add the line: Unseen-Sequence: unseen to your .mh_profile, you can do a "show unseen" whenever you log on, to see your new mail. (and you'll never have to type inc again!) As far as the reason why the messages all get lumped into one big one, I assume it's some bug (feature?) but I'd rather have it inc'd for me, anyway. > >-- >################################################################################ > Mark A. A couple of months ago, I posted same problem. And I got following answer which fixed my symptom from Eric W. Ziegast, University of Merryland, Engineering Computing Services ziegast@eng.umd.edu - Eric@(301.405.3689) After latest patch (6.7.1) was applied, the problem has gone. The original answer follows: ------- Begin Eric's Messages ----------- Subject: Re: Help: slocal under sendmail Date: Tue, 15 Jan 91 16:20:07 EST From: ziegast@eng.umd.edu The problem is not with you .maildelivery, but with MH. MH on default uses the file ">" action to store unfiltered messages into your standard BSD/UUCP mail drop. The problem is that slocal is improperly seperating the messages. They are seperated with a "\nFrom " instead of the required "\n\nFrom " re- quired by inc, /usr/ucb/mail, etc. I've made a small patch to fix it in MH 6.7.0. But I recommend that you get the latest patch (6.7.1) from UCI and try it first. If it still doesn't work, mail me and I'll send you the patch that sticks in the extra "\n". ----- End of Eric's Messages ------------ Ming-Jen -- Ming-Jen Chan Email: mjchan@monica.itri.org.tw Computer and Communication Laboratories (CCL) Phone: +886 35 91 7527 Industrial Technology Research Institute Fax: +886 35 95 7826 Snail: 195-4-w100, Sec. 4, Chun-Hsing Rd., Chu-Tung, Hsin-Chu 31015, Taiwan

Sounds like an incorrectly configured mtstailor file to me. Check the file "/usr/med/mh/lib/mtstailor" and examine the lines that begin with "mmdelim1:" and "mmdelim2:". At least one (and I'm pretty sure both) need to end with a newline ('\n'). Ask your MH administrator at your site to fix the problem, if that's where it is. -- "This is not a chwade.
