[comp.mail.mh] "whom" goes haywire on DECsystem 5500

kells@iis.ethz.ch (Kevin Kells) (04/14/91)

For a long time I have been a happy MH user on a Sun SparcStation.
Recently, however, my mailbox was moved to a DECsystem 5500 (Ultrix V4.1),
where I installed MH-6.7, so I've been using MH there.

On the Sun, I would type in some mail and then at the "What now?" prompt,
I would type in "whom" to make sure the mail was going to the right
person.

On the DEC machine, when I type in "whom" at the same prompt, I get
the usual "Fcc: AuthorCopy", but the name of the addressee doesn't show
up. Instead, the mail (or a part of the mail) gets *sent*. I typed in
"whom" a number of times at first, perplexed. And my mail (part of my
mail) was sent _each time_.

Since I don't usually read this newsgroup, I don't know if this has
happened to anyone before. I'm not sure where to begin debugging,
since I installed MH following the directions in the READ-ME file and I
am not an MH or mail hacker.

Could anyone offer some help?

Thanks,

Kevin
