Does anyone out there have a good reference to recommend dealing with the 1541 disk drive? The documentation that comes with it, as I hardly need to point out, is among the worst in the genre. What I am looking for is some publication, preferably book-size, that contains an explanation of how the C 64 Kernal routines work, how they interact with the ROM on the 1541, and how either may be customized for particular purposes. Any pointers will be gratefully received by Paul

Paul, I can recommend a couple of books: "The Anatomy of the 1541", and "The Anatomy of the Commodore 64", both by Abacus Software (Grand Rapids, MI?). Both of these books are excellent and contain complete and commented dissassemblies of their respective operating systems. Good luck. -geo (Hadden@HI-MULTICS)
