[comp.lang.scheme] ML

sullivan@MARGE.MATH.BINGHAMTON.EDU (fred sullivan) (12/05/87)

I have heard rumors of a public domain (or free) ML interpreter. Does
anyone know about this? I have a VAX running Ultrix.

Thanks,

Well it's far from free but ...

If you buy Poplog from System's Designers, you get Sussex University's Poplog
environment with Pop11, Common Lisp, and Prolog. For not a lot extra you can
also have Poplog ML which an implementation of Standard ML, integrated into
Poplog in "the usual" way (ie integrated editor, on-line help).

Poplog also runs on Suns and HP 9000/300s and various other things.

Regards,
Kers (and will it put in my .signature too?)

It seems that I remember a discussion in this newsgroup about ML several
months ago. At the time, I wasn't interested enough to save the stuff,
but now I need to know...

Is there a public domain ML interpreter available somewhere?

Dave Macqueen at ATT Bell Labs, Murray Hill, is distributing his implementation
of Standard ML. It is not public domain (there is a token license fee), but
it is meant as a research tool, not a commercial product. Try contacting him
at: dbm.btl@relay.cs.net
or: dbm%research.att.com@relay.cs.net
