ARPANet readers get net.micro.6809 (and many of the other net.micro newsgroups) as part of the INFO-MICRO mailing list. Thus the occasional requests for a seperate newsgroup (mailing list) from ARPA people, when such a list already exists on usenet (since on arpanet, a mailing list is maintained and distributed by a single host, it is more difficult (politically and practically) to set up new mailing lists than it is to set up a new newsgroup on usenet). Thus the actuall corospondance looks something like: net.micro.apple <==> info-apple@MIT-MC net.micro.cpm <==> info-cpm@brl-aos fa.info-mac <==> info-mac@SUMEX-AIM (im not sure this is two way) all other net.micro.* ==> info-micro@brl-aos This works out pretty well, the only problem being that responses from arpa to messages that originally appeared on net.micro.xxxx end up in net.micro instead of the newsgroup where they started.
