[comp.lang.scheme] WHY I HATE LISP SYNTAX

cmaeda@EXXON-VALDEZ.FT.CS.CMU.EDU (Christopher Maeda) (09/13/90)

YO DOODS,

I HATE LISP SYNTAX BECUASE I CAN'T TELL WHICH PARENS ARE SUPPOSED TO
BE CURLY BRACES AND WHICH PARENS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE PARENS.

This is exactly why I dislike the syntax of many other languages: I
can't tell why some parens are supposed to be curly braces, brackets
angle brackets and whatnots ;-)

Seriously, coming from a lispy background, I sometimes find it hard to
remember to insert all the semicolons, colons, etc. that many
languages require. But, as has been said many times, it is just a
matter of taste and habit.
