Wait -- 8088's and all variants are on dire allocation from Intel, and Steve Ciarcia is avoiding 68000 designs because 68000's are "hard for mortals to get"? Sun has occasionally had trouble getting quantities of premium parts from Motorola but I thought 6MHz or 8MHz 68000's were easy to come by. Am I wrong?

What do you mean hard to get?????? You could get 8 mhz 68000 at the Trenton Computer Fest for ~$10 and 12mhz 68000 for $15!!! I even knew someone that bought one.. and actually saw the guy selling them myself, I also saw somebody else selling them for a higher price, but still around $20!!! that aint bad at all.....
