is there another ftp source for the liar compiler for scheme? i have tried the two machines listed in my ftp list, chamartin (connection refused), and zurich (limited to 10 connections, seems eternally full) with no success.

Your FTP list is wrong. Liar (and the rest of MIT Scheme) resides on
altdorf.ai.mit.edu.
