[comp.sys.sgi] IRIS 4D...

zyda@NPS-CS.ARPA (michael zyda) (01/23/88)

At the Naval Postgraduate School, we now have an IRIS-4D/70G.
We are busily porting our software from the 3120 and Turbo 2400
machines that we have. We find a few things missing from the
machine. There is no /usr/people/gifts directory, as in the past.
This is not a big problem as most everything is porting over OK.
We did want to see a sample program that utilized the "Lighting
Models" of Chapter 14 of the Graphics Library User's Guide.
Does anyone out there, including SGI people, have any short
demonstration programs that utilize this facility that they
would be willing to forward over the net?

One avenue I tried that did NOT pan out. I requested the source
to the /usr/demos code that comes with the IRIS-4D. I had hoped that
the code there would show me samples of the Lighting Model software.
None of the demos there uses those routines! (Also, many of the
programs there are written in a style that leaves a lot to be
desired...)

     Thank you in advance!
