[comp.sys.sgi] Answer to TCP/IP Hardware Upgrade Question

    IRIS Users -

I received the necessary information on the TCP/IP upgrade. M. Zyda,
Naval Postgraduate School, informs me that it's just a software issue on
the IRIS 3020. (You just "PROM" boot up using the TCP/IP kernal instead
on the XNS kernal). Both kernals are already installed on the IRIS.

Further investigation shows that any potential hardware upgrades
are for the mainframe computer which will interface with the IRIS.

Actually, when you install TCP the default kernel is set to 3000.tcp. You
can change this by using the command "kernel xns" or for that matter "kernel
tcp" if you're runnign XNS.
