Does anyone know how to change the dates on which the automatic time zone takes effect? We have both System V and BSD systems and we can't find out how to do it. The manuals say it can be done, but they say how. This is one of those small anoyances you wish you could correct, but can't figure out how.

For System V (except where source code was hacked) you need to change the setting of the TZ environment variable from its default EST5EDT or PST8PDT to EDT4 or PDT7 for a month or so and then change it back so it will work for the "fall behind" later. Iterate until you get an new rev which has this fixed. You can put the fix in /etc/profile or $HOME/.profile for sh or /etc/cshrc or ~/.login for csh. -- Bob Toxen {ucbvax!ihnp4,harvard,cloud9!es}!anvil!cavu!bob Stratus Computer, Marlboro, MA Pilot to Copilot: What's a mountain goat doing way up here in a cloud bank?
