I tried to use the dbx debugger on a Fortran program, and got: dbx version 3.75 of 11/3/86 19:32 Type 'help' for help dbx: fatal error: Invalid argument The program was compiled and linked with the -g switch. It and dbx work fine on a Vaxstation under Ultrix. I'm using an Iris 3020 running 3.5. Any ideas? -- Steve Gaarder Cornell University, 171 Hollister, Ithaca NY 14853 607-255-5389 UUCP: {cmcl2,shasta,rochester,uw-beaver}!cornell!batcomputer!sparks BITNET: sparks@crnlthry.BITNET ARPA: sparks@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu

I asked a week or so ago about a problem using dbx on an Iris 3020 under gl 3.5. The answer was that dbx does not work in an nfs directory under rev 3.5. The temporary solution is to use a local directory; the long- term one is to upgrade to 3.6. Thanks to all who took the time to reply. Now I have another question: How do I have the system notify me when mail comes in? Biff and comsat seem to be missing. -- Steve Gaarder Cornell University, 171 Hollister, Ithaca NY 14853 607-255-5389 UUCP: {cmcl2,shasta,rochester,uw-beaver}!cornell!batcomputer!sparks BITNET: sparks@crnlthry.BITNET ARPA: sparks@tcgould.tn.cornell.edu
