Hello, just two questions: 1) is a version of dogfight for the 3100 series available, which is compatible to the 4D dogfight. We have three (soon five) 3100 and one 4D. We want to "communicate" with all of them. 2) are the TCP versions of dogfight, shadow, radar and arena public domain, and where can we get the sources? Hello, here are a few questions from the game lovers at our site (In ANY case there should be no doubt that this has no personal relevance for me) - is there a version of TCP dogfight for the 3100 (GL 3.6) available, which is compatible with the 4D version. We have three (soon 5) 3130 and one 4D/70 and we want to use all of these machines simultaneously. - are dogfight, radar, shadow and arena public domain and where can we get the sources, including the TCP support? With kind regards (still refusing to admit personal interest in the matter) Martin Knoblauch TH-Darmstadt, PC1 Petersenstrasse 20 D-6100 Darmstadt, FRG BITNET: <XBR2D96D@DDATHD21.BITNET>

We have been able to get Dogfight (and Radar and Shadow and so on) to run in a mixed environment of IRIS 3000 & IRIS 4D machines all running TCP/IP. First we got the SGI demos distribution tape for the 4D (from the IRIS Software Exchange, free if you send them a blank tape). This contains sources for flight, dog, etc, using TCP/IP, and it compiles and runs fine on the 4D's, as you would hope. The trick is to use the same sources for the 3000's. You have to do about an hour's worth of hacking, mostly in the Makefile to get the right libraries and include file directories, but there is one change you have to make in flight.c (a variable called "tps" needs to be handled slightly differently). This is a small price to pay for such a good game. I presume a similar trick would work for Arena, but if you have Dogfight, there is no point in bothering with anything else. matt moore UCSC CIS Board mmoore@saturn.ucsc.edu {wherever}!ucbvax!ucscc.ucsc.edu!saturn.ucsc.edu!mmoore
