Thanks to all of you who have responded to my query about my fortran problem. The problem has not been solved but it has been pointed out to me that the problem do not occur in version 41 of fortran. I'm sorry that I did not look what my version is until now. My versions are ftn 900839 , ftn.sw 1000839 and ftn.man 1100839 and they are dated 88/12/7. We have apart from a two processor POWER IRIS which is just to be installed 3 personal IRIS workstations and one 4D/70GTB at the biotechnical lab. I just had to see if my fortran program works on the personal IRIS. The same problem occured and the system had to be rebooted. The versions of the fortran compiler were the same as on the 4D/70GTB but they were dated 88/12/12. I had some mails from sgi saying that the fortran compiler should be at least version 41 or higher. So my next question is that why do sgi ship new personal IRIS workstations with that old (ver 39) fortran compilers? The personal IRIS workstations came just a couple of days ago. An my fortran (on the 4D/70GTB) is not older than about 3 months. It looks as if people at sgi are not able to lay their hands on that old compiler versions as sgi is still shiping. -leif laaksonen
