What's the trick on using tar to dump files on quarter inch tape from a
personal iris so the files can be read on a 3120?

The standard tape drive for a Personal Iris is a 150Mb model. With
this tape drive, the Personal Iris can READ lower density tapes, but
it CAN"T WRITE THEM. There is an option (P5-TC2) for a 60Mb SCSI tape
drive for a Personal Iris, which allows you to create the lower density
tapes.
