Our SGI IRIS 4D/120S keeps getting these intermittent messages on its console: dks0d1s0 Unrecoverable device error: Write fault. dks0d1s0 retrying xfer If anyone knows what might be causing this, please contact me. -- M. The error was unrecoverable (by the drive), so the OS is retrying. If you don't get another message, the OS retry was successful. This could indicate an intermittent drive error, or a soft media error, although that would usually be reported as a media error. If you'll send me mail telling me which type of disk drive you have, I might be able to give you more specific info for your particular drive. For those who really want to know, a scsi cmd returned a check condition error, a request sense command then returned the info that the primary error was 4, with an additional sense code of 3.
