The X server shipped with 3.2 doesn't support any 24 bit visual. Sorry. --Jeff Jeff Weinstein - X Protocol Police Silicon Graphics, Inc., Entry Systems Division, Window Systems jsw@xhead.esd.sgi.com Any opinions expressed above are mine, not sgi's.

From article <4469@odin.SGI.COM>, by jsw@xhead.SGI.COM (Jeff Weinstein): > > The X server shipped with 3.2 doesn't support any 24 bit > visual. Sorry. > > --Jeff rats :-( This will throw the development work of the group in question into a tail spin for the moment. They are doing code development for an image processing application for minerals exploration and they _need_ the 24 bit colour. Will it be supported in the next release of the X server, and if so could an interim patch be done? (I guess there are others who would like 24 bit also). thanx for the reply Jeff, ian -- Ian Hoyle /\/\ / / /\ BHP Melbourne Research Laboratories / / / \ 245 Wellington Rd, Mulgrave, 3170 / / / /\ \ AUSTRALIA \ \/ / / / \ / / / Phone : +61-3-560-7066 \/\/\/ ACSnet : ianh@merlin.bhpmrl.oz.au Internet: ianh%merlin.bhpmrl.oz.au@uunet.uu.net
