[comp.sys.sgi] Volume Rendering Tools

sumane@portia.Stanford.EDU (Thilaka Sumanaweera) (03/02/90)

VOXVU is a volume rendering tool available on SUN workstations
equipped with a TAAC board. Does anybody out there know if Silicon
Grpahics has a similar tool available on personal IRIS-4D/2* ?

Any pointer/ suggestion is welcome.

I already answered this on comp.graphics but in case
others are interested:

Yes. VoxelLab comes with SGI boxes, and is a subset of
VoxelView from Vital Images.

Well, no. Silicon Graphics has licensed VoxelLab only on GT and GTX
machines; it will not work on Personal Irises. I don't know the
technical reasons why it doesn't work, and don't know if the licensing
arrangement between SGI and Vital Images might change.
