[comp.sys.sgi] Alternate character sets

curses(3) allows line graphics to be drawn using an alternate character set.
I would like to do this outside of curses. Can I do this by changing to the
appropriate font, then sending the appropriate characters to the screen?
If so, what font does curses use?
