Is there any reason why I shouldn't be able to slap an X terminal onto a 4D/210GTX over Ethernet? Since only the application/Xlib fraction would be running on the SGI, there shouldn't be any problem with the funny X/NeWS hybrid system running on the SGI, correct? Also, if anyone out there is actually running this set-up, I'd like to hear from you on how smooth it was, what the network overhead is like, and whether you had any recommendation for specific X terminal vendors. Thanks muchly in advance! Please mail responses to: "marie@ernie.berkeley.edu"

There should be no problem running an X terminal off of an SGI box. I do it every day. --Jeff Jeff Weinstein - X Protocol Police Silicon Graphics, Inc., Entry Systems Division, Window Systems jsw@xhead.esd.sgi.com Any opinions expressed above are mine, not sgi's.

I am also interested in any informating regarding the combination of X terminals and Iris 4D's. Does anyone know if there exists terminals supporting both X and NeWS applications? (XNeWS terminals, perhaps?) If anyone has a summary of X terminals they could send me or post in this newsgroup, it would be greatly appreciated. George Elkins elkins@topaz.rutgers.edu
