Has anyone successfully integrated the likes of a 600 LPM band printer on either the PI Centronics interface or on the Parallel (Centronics and Versatec) interface on the ASD machines? If you have, or know of anyone who has, I would appreciate any details you could provide to me. (I haven't touched one of these beasts in several years, and never on an SGI box. I mean, SGI only makes workstations :{) , and workstations don't need high speed line printers. So what if it has 8 25 MHz processors , tons of memory, gig and gigs of disk space? Doesn't SGI only make work- stations?) Just kidding, folks. Actually, I know of no reason for a Centronics interfaced band printer not to work on the SGI machines, but the question of certain control characters, form feed, overprint, etc. come to mind a being somewhat problematic from the s/w standpoint. And don't forget all of those Snoopy on his Doghouse landscape demos printed with asteriks and 0's that one needs to port to the new devices. :{), again.
