Frankly, after all we've been through trying to organize newsgroup creation, I don't think that ANYBODY should run around creating new newsgroups suddenly, regardless of the topic. Believe me, the Jedi discussion is going to RAMP up as people see the movie, so we have some time to think and not rush around. Creating a separate newsgroup like that is going to create some problems. Unless you create ANOTHER newsgroup for spoilers, or can DEPEND on people titling their messages properly (fat chance!) you are going to blow details for alot of people. You are also going to create an isolated discussion when a very large organized discussion will be talking place in Arpa SF-L. What we do over there is isolate the Star Wars discussions (right after releases when the topic gets "hot") in special daily digests that are ONLY on that topic. We've done this for the Star Wars movies in the past and will no doubt do that again this time. One advantage is that the moderator collects all the spoilers together and places them at the END of the digests after a clear marker, so that people who don't want to read on don't have to. Still, these people can freely read the "open" discussion that does not include spoilers. You CANNOT depend on people to mark spoilers correctly or to always send them to the correct group; a moderator really needs to watch out for such spoilers. All it takes is ONE article from some jerk to spoil the movie for someone who has carefully avoided the mass media discussions of details. So how about us NOT trying to generate more separate discussions and promoting isolation? Why don't we use the established framework and, for once, let the digest format help to avoid forcing people to either not read ANYTHING on the topic or take the risk of spoilers? In any case, how about a little less newgroup creation by edic as well, huh? Thanks. --Lauren--
