[comp.sys.sgi] Seagate Disks for a 4D/25 PI running O.S. 3.2

corkum@csri.toronto.edu (Brent Thomas Corkum) (08/16/90)

Does anyone know whether the Seagate Wren Runner-2 767 MB or the
Wren 7 1.2 GB or the Seagate Elite 1.2 GB SCSI disks will work
on a PI 4D/25 (ie. does anyone have one running)?

We're looking to add a Gigabyte or so of storage to our current
configuraion of a 4D/25 with a internal 360MB disk and want to
know what options we have.

The 767 and the 1.2 were just announced as official SGI drives. Assuming
that the drives you buy have the same firmware fixes that we had Seagate
make for us, then you should be in good shape. The Elite SHOULD work, but
since it is out of form factor, you would have to use it in an external
cabinet. Be sure you provide adequate cooling, they are HOT drives. We
have not done any work on the Elite because of the form factor issue.

Life would be so much easier if we could just look at the source code.
