Because the name "Popcorn", like "Peanut", is probably a creation of the industry press, rather than of IBM, it doesn't have to correspond to any particular IBM product. The IBM PCjr was *never* codenamed "Peanut" within IBM; one of its IBM codenames was "Sprite". IBM reportedly has taken to devising zillions of bogus codenames for its micro products, presumably to easily identify the source of leaks, like those that can occur when preannouncement versions or copies of hardware or software are loaned to a software developer.
