Regarding the band Game Theory, Jim Hofmann writes, >Well, I did find out more of these guys. Seems they are one of those >'efforts' ala Derek and the Dominos, Power STation (?) and others consisting >of Mitch Easter ( who I assume wrote the non-sappy lyrics ) and guys >from the 3 O'CLOCK. My ear didn't lie after all. > Maybe your ears didn't lie, but your sources of information seem to have. Game Theory is not an all-star 'effort' ala D&D or Power Station. In fact the band is really Vocalist/Guitarist/Composer Scott Miller and whoever happens to be in the band in any given incarnation. As far as I know this usually doesn't include people from other bands such as Easter. They have at least 3, and I think 4, EP/LP's out, mostly independent. I think one of them was produced by the 3 O'Clock's Michael Quercio, and one of them by Let's Active's Mitch Easter--but basically Scott Miller is still Game Theory. Live it is apparent that Miller is completely infatuated with Big Star era Alex Chilton. This comes across somewhat on record I guess. When Chilton was here I saw Scott standing with a rapturous glaze in his eye at stage center, hugging himself. It was quite a sight. Game Theory (i.e. Scott Miller) started out in the UC Davis/Sacramento area, and has recently relocated to the Bay Area (actually Berkeley I think). ... gt
